Approaches to Counseling
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a model of therapy that strives to equip clients with the tools to accept their thoughts and feelings, to increase connection to the present moment, and to ACT in alignment with their values (an aptly named therapy). In ACT treatment, clients learn to create space for difficult emotions, rather than pushing them away, which frees up mental energy to pursue healing and rich, meaningful lives!

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that is evidenced to relieve distress associated with traumatic memories and experiences. In EMDR treatment, your therapist guides you through systematically reprocessing past memories with the use of left right movements or external stimulus (most commonly eye movements). Put most simply, the aims of EMDR treatment are to heal from past trauma, to lower or in some cases eliminate distress from trauma triggers, and to be able to think and feel the way it makes sense (to you) to think and feel when reminded of past experiences. Ready to start EMDR for your own trauma healing?

Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is a powerful therapeutic approach grounded in attachment science. EFT operates under the notion that our emotions are powerful messengers of core needs to ourselves and others. EFT allows clients to increase awareness into their emotions, relational needs, and cycles of interaction with others in relationships. EFT is most well known as a form of couples therapy- Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), but it is also practiced in individual therapy Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). A key difference between EFCT and EFIT is that EFCT works to enact real time shifts in ways of connecting between partners in treatment, whereas in EFIT emotions and relational needs are expressed with parts of the self or with imagined relational figures. Are you ready to foster healthy connection in relationships?
